Just want to say how lucky we all are to have the internet. I can't imagine how much harder life would be without the ease of connecting to people experiencing the same things. For that I am eternally grateful!! Thank you for sharing, and in sharing we are helping spread information!! :D
In January of 2013 my gynecologist surgically drained an abscess. Two months later, it started back up and popping. Went back in and she thought it was herpes. Tests came back negative and she had no idea what was going on. It took me many hours of research and almost a year later to get the proper diagnosis of an abscess with a fistula.
I have not been diagnosed with crohns, and do not have any symptoms other than the abscess/fistula. I had a fistulatomy and a seton placement in January of this year. It involved too much muscle to lay it
open. The first month I only had yellow discharge that continually decreased. This month, there is less yellow discharge, however after almost every bowel movement there is more of a yellow-brown discharge, and it seems like more than before.
I am afraid that it will never heal, and at the same time I know it will. It only bothers me after a movement and when I am at work sitting down, even with the lovely donut pillow. It is definitely better with the seton, as I don't have to wait for it to pop to feel relief!!
My question is how is it going to heal if it continually fills up after every bowel movement?
Thank you all again for sharing your experiences!! Without you I would be lost.
