I'm asking this for my uncle (well, my dad's cousin, but we call him uncle).
He was hospitalized yesterday for a partial bowel obstruction. He had his appendix removed several years ago and there was a lot of scar tissue, which is what caused the obstruction. Originally they were just going to send him home on IV nutrition for a few days, but right when they were about to release him he vomited again and passed out, so they admitted him to keep an eye.
They are telling him that diet has nothing to do with it. I know that the scar tissue itself can't really be fixed (they said surgery would just make more), so he'll probably have this happen again in the future. Since many of you have experience with obstructions due to scar tissue, is there a diet that would be best for him to just help delay it happening as much as possible? Like high fiber, etc.?
Thanks.
