Mole removal - not totally CD related (and for the ladies)

I know it's not CD related, but it's kind of Remicade's fault.

My family has a history of skin cancer (my dad and his dad). We're all pretty white with red-toned hair. As a kid I always forgot to reapply sunscreen and would get blistering sunburns on my back, neck, and ears (I grew up in Denver, so high elevation).

Since diagnosed with CD and in hospital stays, I got a couple of moles on my back that would change in size and sometimes bleed and itch. At the end of last year I saw a derm, and they removed two off my back (both normal) and one off my ear (abnormal). The ear one hasn't come back, but it does look like a mouse to a tiny bite off the tip of my ear, lol.

Anyway, in February I got another one on my back that got really, really big and then would shrink, itch, and bleed. We've assumed these are just from so much sun exposure and family history, but with the Remi, my GI said not to even wait until my yearly appointment.

At the same time the new back mole came, I got one on the inner fold of my labia. It's fairly large (at least for that area) and really dark. When I showed the derm, she was more concerned about it than the one on my back because it's such a random place that obviously was not exposed to the sun.

So she cut them BOTH off. Ouch, ouch, ouch. The back is ok, but every time I pee it just burns and burns. Plus I somehow have to keep it clean with a bandage and gauze (so tape right over that area) and re-clean it every time I go to the bathroom. It's still bleeding, and ooooh, does it sting!

So I just wanted to complain a little bit about this. Thanks for letting me. :)

UGH, like you need yet another thing to go through. Try pouring very warm water over down there after you go. This is something I was taught after my kids were born in order to keep clean up. Hope you heal soon!

Oh sci all I can say is OUCH.  I am fair with reddish hair too and know the family skin concerns.  Fortunately my only problem is an itchy occasionally bleeding keratosis on my shoulder blade.

I like the squirt bottle recommendation.  I always say the hadheld shower sprayer is my best friend.  I don't know if this will help, but I have also found eye saline or nose saline spray really nifty to have to help gently clean up.  This low salination stuff actually is really soothing on the splits at the base of my tags (which ps have the same issues as you mentioned in your "crack"post hehehehe).
