My colorectal surgeon suggested a couple of weeks ago that I get one or the other for my rectovaginal fistula because I'll probably get tired of the seton. And he's right. It's caused some skin tags, rubs a bit, bleeds a bit, and causes intimacy to be uncomfortable sometimes. So which should I do?
I'm thinking plug because if it doesn't work, then I can just get a seton put back in. If I do a flap, I can't put a seton in, will probably get an abscess, and most likely need to have a temporary ileostomy (which terrifies me they won't be able to reverse it because I'll flare). If I do the plug and it doesn't work, I can eventually try the flap later.
