Are you prepping for a colonoscopy? My GIs always sent instructions home as to how they wanted it done if they wanted it differently from the instructions that come with the prep. Did the doctor prescribe the Gravol for the nausea while you take the prep? I wish I had been prescribed something as I had to fight nausea with the stuff.
Obviously, I'm no help but at least it will keep the post near the top where someone else will hopefully have something helpful to say. Sorry.

I've used prepopik which is the US's version of pico-salax twice. It definitely takes longer than some of the other preps I've used for a colonoscopy. I think the last time I used it I didn't start to have a lot of movement for 4-5 hours after I started. If I remember correctly, you should check the instructions your dr. gave you, you can take as much time as you need to drink the other liquids. As far as how much to drink that should be listed on the instructions as well, if not call your dr.

I didn't get instructions. I'm at the hospital. the nurse gave me the first glass of prep mixed with orange juice. then I told her to give me gravol through IV. I usually start feeling nauseas and start throwing up. so I am glad that I'm at the hospital for the prep. it just I like my own bathroom at home. that's the only down side. I drank it around two hours ago, I went to the bathroom twice but nothing came. I m just anxious so I think I have to go. so I go just to be careful. my stomachs making watery noises. so I guess in a hour or two I'll start going. I'm also taking pain meds when I need them. it's through IV so I can take them throughout. they usually help with the strong stomach cramps I get and because of the stricture I have near the rectum. it gets pretty painful.

It took much longer for me than the other preps, but it did work in time and I was cleaned out in time for the colonoscopy. I had to do a prep once in the hospital...it was no fun dragging the IV pole back and forth to the bathroom. I hope you have a private bathroom at least. Let us know how everything turns out. I hope the prep is not too painful for you

it is no fun at all dragging the IV pole but you've gotta do what you got do. i still have gone? I'm peeling a lot. I might have to take another pack at 6 am. yup I have a private room. I've had c.diff and MRSA in the past so they usually isolate me. the prep gave me a bit of pain but it's the bloating of my stomach. everytime I drink the prep it gets me bloated and then in about
an hour or so I pee a couple of times and it gets better than before, not perfectly flat but better. when took the second prep about
an hour ago and I just suddenly started to feel like vomiting again. I took long breaths and closed my eyes, kinda like mediating to take my mind of it. I called my nurse she came in and gave me some more gravol though IV. so far I've taken 2mg of dilaudid once when I start the prep and gravol twice. I know that this pain compared to the one that will happen any moment will be so bad. I'm just waiting for that to happen... ouuu I just heard my stomach rumble and my rectum kinda tickled. maybe it's almost here :D

I usually ask for a bedside commode when I do a prep at the hospital. A bit gross because it has to be changed out often.
