Hi I would love to hear from anyone who has a child with crohns IBD, My 14 year old son has had crohns now for 4 years and is having his second flare up,the dietician has put him on a liquid diet for six weeks but dosent seem to be helping. cry I am out of my head with worry and just wondered if any mums are going through the same as me.

Eliminate all sugar and carbs from his diet, no soda,  no sweets, no ensure, nothing with sugar.  Sugar and carbs feed the bad bacteria which causes inflammation.  Read the book "breaking the vicious cycle" which describes how this lady cured her daughter with only changing her diet.

If a liquid diet isn't helping your 14 year old, it's time to go back to the DR. What meds is he taking or has he taken? Where is his inflammation?

NY-Sooner is referring to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It has worked wonders for some, and done nothing for others such as myself. I hope your son is seeing a GI in addition to a dietician. This disease requires treatment from a number of angles. Diet is only one of them.
