Question: Stabbing pain immediately prior to BM

That was happening to me when I was having my stricture and partial obstruction. Do you have a stricture in your ileum or colon?

Good question gumby. When I was in the hospital two weeks ago, they did a CT scan and ultrasound. I hadn't drank contrast (just had it injected immediately prior) and the results suggested thickening in the rectum, where my disease has been most active for the last year or two. Immediately prior to the hospital trip and ever since then (so going on three weeks), I have only really been having extremely loose/liquid BMs--not sure why. Prior to that when I was constipated, my BMs were flat, which supports the idea that there is some wall thickening.

I feel like the stabbing pain issue isn't that new, it's just happening more often now, especially since I switched from constipation to D.

I've experienced it as well, only for a brief couple seconds but stops me dead in my tracks for that split second it's so intense.

@Jenna - Have you gone to a gastro specialist and had a colonoscopy? If you are experiencing symptoms like that I suggest they check you out to do a proper determination. I know I've been symptomatic my whole life (childhood was horrible, and being called a hypochondriac for most of my life didn't help), I had a severe enough flare up in my early 20's I was sent to the ER and after they did a colonoscopy a couple weeks later they found evidence of the Crohn's starting to show damage...they ignored it, and just called it IBS. Several years later, and I have another visit to the ER, this time I went to a proper Gastro that scoped and determined it was Crohn's and because they ignored it I have ulcers in the colon and diseased ilium(sp). If you have questions about your diagnosis ask your doctor, if they're worth your time they will have no issues explaining why they diagnose you they way they do...if they take exception, maybe look for a new doctor. This is your health, no theirs...
