I'm suspecting a Crohn's flare-up even if your doctors aren't. In 2011, I relapsed with fevers reaching 105F. It's rather a long story. Initially I was put on IV steroids in hospital, but my GI took me off them the next day, sounding a bit irate with whoever had decided to put me on them. Was put on a course of metronizadole and discharged a few days later.
Relapsed straight away with more high fevers and, this time, immense pain. Back in hospital a few days later. Docs still telling me it's a gatrointestinal infection (yeah, right), but at least I got put onto IV steroids and kept on them that time. They worked, 'cos it was a Crohn's flare-up I had; an abdominal x-ray showed evidence of toxic megacolon.
Oh wait, I did have a massively elevated CRP though :-/ Is your CRP really normal? In that case, I guess I'm less sure now...
I'd still ask for a CT scan or abdominal x-ray though. I'm still suspecting Crohn's somewhat, although in a way I hope it isn't that crappy disease rearing its ugly head and hope it's something more easily treatable.
