MR Enterography results. Does anyone know what this all means? What is considered chronic inflammation?




Chronic mild circumferential thickening of a 4.5-cm segment of neoterminal
ileum, unchanged.

Thickening and mild delayed enhancement of multiple loops of proximal
jejunum, suggestive of chronic inflammatory changes.

No bowel obstruction or fistula identified. mad

I'm not a radiologist, but "Chronic mild circumferal thickening" would indicate scarring or strictureing. Generally from inflamation and healing. If there's no blockage, then as long as the pattern is under control, you can live with it.

4.5cm is pretty small in length. Are you on a good maintenance med?

The main thing here is to control the disease. The better you control the pattern of inflammation, the less likely the scarring can occur.

Sounds like you're not too bad off overall though.

I am on Azathioprine and Cimzia now but I have been on Humira before and I don't think anything is working. I now have active inflammation in sigmoid colon and distal rectum. Is it scarring in the Jejunum also? Thank you for your reply.

Once again, no expert here, but whenever they speak of thinckening, it's reasonable to suspect scarring.

THey do indicate that both points are "mild" so that's encouraging.

Thickening can also mean inflammation. It can be very hard to tell from an MRE, or so I've been told
