For the ladies....had surgery yesterday

Not sure if you remember that I posted about the mole on the inside of my labia that kept coming back after they removed it and it was getting more and more atypical each time (pre-cancerous). So random, because the ones on my back that has been sunburned a million times are just fine.

Anyway, so they had a surgeon yesterday go in and excise it. I thought it was going to be simple like the others, maybe just half an inch long or something. Oh no, not at all.....I have a long cut over an inch and a half long! It goes all the way down my entire inside of the labia! And it is completely black now from the bruising. It was so swollen it looked about three times the size as the other one. They gave me a shot that they said would last from 24 hours to several days to numb it. I was hoping it would last several days, but it's already starting to ache and it hasn't even hit the 24 hours yet. Guess I'm laying down today with an ice pack! My poor little girl just wants to play with Mommy, but last time when I just had the tiny removal, she would stand on my legs while I was sitting down and her feet would slide down between and she'd stand on it and it would hurt like the devil, even days after. So sorry baby, but no way I'm chancing it! She can dance to music and play with toys, but I'm laying on the couch with an ice pack.

sorry you had to have such a painful surgery! I hope they got it all this time and you can put it behind you and never need another surgery again. Get well soon!!

Hey, I just learned about vulvar Crohn's disease. Did they do a tissue biopsy to see if it's CD? Also, I ran across Metastatic Cutaneous Crohn's in my research on vulva/vaginal issues. I just wanted to mention this to you as I went to a second opinion appt yesterday at UCSF and they mentioned this type of CD might be my problem instead of just lymphedema of the genitals- something which is apparently extremely rare, moreso than vulvar CD and more likely to be a secondary Crohn's issue since I have CD. I thought of your labia issue when they mentioned this so I wanted to tell you.

In my brief googling since yesterday, vulvar CD is probably under recognized and seems to be even less known about even by GIs. It can include swelling, edema, and lesions. Also, apparently it is often dismissed by gyns and GIs as yeast or other issues. I can't tell you how many times I've been put on Diflucan with NO results.
