I feel terrible I had to cancel my appt!! I did the miralax prep with 2 laxatives and about 12 am got violently ill I could not stop throwing up and it was all stomach acid seeing as I had nothing in my system, I really needed to get this done but never again will I go through that pain, my stomach burned for 5 hours and I cried in pain as I threw up..this ever happen to anyone?

Bella, that sounds horrible, hope you're feeling better now.  I know with my first scopy they had me prep with this gallon jug that had some powder I had to mix water into, and then drink a full glass every 10 mins, or some amount of time till it was gone...it was one of the most horrible experiences not including some flare-ups.  I had the nausea and but he last couple glasses I sooo wanted to tap out but my ex-wife kept supporting me and pushing me through, if it wasn't for that I don't know how I would have.  There is a couple options you can do...one of my scopes they gave me visicol tablets, and followed the directions and it was one of the easiest and non-traumatic preps I've ever had.  So sorry you went through that, try talking to your doc about the alternative preps.

Did you poop at all? I'm worried you have an obstruction. Call your doc right away if you haven't already talked to him

My husband tried to keep me going but the pain and vomiting was too much I had to have some tea to stop the burning, I was in so much pain had a scope years ago and it was nothing like this
I haven't talked to my dr but the nurse called and didn't sound worried she asked when I wanted to reschedule but after that it will be a while
Thanks guys!! My crohns is under control for the most part I guess I am lucky but my dr wanted to scope since its been so long but I could keep the prep down I did poop with it too I think it was too much for my body to handle

hey bella....I am wondering if it is the laxative pill. I know they make me nauseous to vomiting so I skip that part of the prep and only do the miralax.
Like gumby said...if you never had a bm from the miralax I am worried...

I have had problems with the different laxatives. The last one had me blacking out which is difficult to handle while sitting on the toilet. It bothers me that the nurse wasn't phased by your getting so sick.

I would totally suggest that the next time you do the prep ask if you can do the one where you take pills and drink them down with water. Im sorry I forget their name(someone mentioned visicol??) but if you don't ask they'll probably just have you do the prep where you drink that nasty gallon of Go Litely or whatever it's called. Why they call it Go Litely is a mystery since it's anything but light. yeah

I've had a number of scopes done and the first couple or so I drank the big gallon of nastiness not knowing there was a much better alternative. Once I found out there was I was like HELLO!!! why would anyone suggest the gallon of liquid over the pills???

There is a new formulation called Prepopix where you only have to drink a tiny amount of prep with a bunch of clear liquids of your choice. If you gag from the regular preps it is a good option. I personally thought it caused more cramping, but I had a stricture at the time, so the cramping may have been more due to that. Ask for it next time.

I am with Jab. I have so far only had to have one colonoscopy and my dr prescribed me osmoprep pills. It is sodium phosphate I believe. You have to drink a ton of liquid with it but it can be any clear liquid. I used apple juice and the getting the prep down was a breeze. I don't understand unless there is a medical condition present such as possible high blood pressure why drs would not automatically prescribe this. Why force ppl to drink that nasty liquid?
