In the past few months, I've lost 35 pounds and have to stay so close to a bathroom that I can barely leave the house. The VA doctors are sort of shrugging their shoulders and haven't been very helpful. Can anybody recommend a good gastro doctor in the Orange County, California, area?

I've had endoscopy and colonoscopy, neither of which showed anything. Can anybody also recommend tests to ask for, to try to get a diagnosis?

MY Wife's mother had similar problems. She was experience weight loss but no pain or symptoms. However she didn't have the issues of going to the bathroom all the time. The doctors were at a loss after all of the normal tests showed nothing. She ended up having exploratory surgery and they found two tumors in her small bowel.

Obviously I would get a ct/mri if you havent had that. Losing weight like that is not normal. The weird thing is that she had theses tumors but they didn't show up on the CT or an MRI.

I don't know about OC specifically, but when I lived down in So Cal and they couldn't figure out what was going on, I was sent to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. They have a good IBD program. I would recommend trying to see one of their GIs. Also, did they do a biopsy during your scope?

You might check with your local CCFA chapter and see if they have some recommends. Also, I've found going to CCFA support groups and meeting other patients helps you find a good word of mouth Doc who you know sees Crohn's/UC patients.
