Hello. I have recently been diagnosed with a perirectal abscess. I live in the US and do not have insurance. The physician at the Urgent Care clinic, after a brief external exam, prescribed an antibiotic (Augmentin,) and something for the pain, (Percoset,) but said that I will have to go to a hospital to have it drained if it does not respond to antibiotics.
(Before handing over $200 for the visit, I had been assured by both a receptionist and a nurse that they could drain it if it turned out to be an abscess, but the doctor said that it was "too dangerous of an area" and "beyond what we can do here.")
Returning home, I began researching and found from multiple sources that these abscesses are usually NOT treatable with antibiotics. However, hospial visits and surgeries are way beyond my means at the moment. I have a little background in Alt medicine and began to look for another option.
My first thought was to use charcoal locally to try and draw out the infection - similar to what I did for an infected tooth a while back. Now I am interested in trying a topical mixture of colloidial silver with Lugol's iodine, using DMSO to hopefully deliver these into the infected tissue.
I am wondering if anyone here has used a similar protocol and had success. I have never used DMSO, so I am a bit apprehensive and want to be safe. Would 99% be best if I am diluting with silver-water anyway? Gel or liquid? Reputable sources? MSM? Would it be dangerous if some DMSO got onto or inside the anus? Would it be safe to use while taking antibiotics or pain medication? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The pain is incredibly severe. Coughing, sneezing, standing, the end of BMs or urination - anything that causes the anus to contract - sets off spasms of horrible Charlie-horse-type agony.
