Resection and diarrhea?

I had 4 ft of ilieum removed a long time ago. This was followed by 28 years of daily diarrhea (no pain) controlled by Questran and then spontaneously solid stools for 10 years. I know Crohn's can cause diarrhea only.

Does a resection, without Crohn's cause diarrhea?

I would think it was possible since you would be missing a section of bowel that absorbs the water back out of the stool.
