Hi Gumby,
I know you've had a resection in the last few months and was wondering if it was elective or if you had a blockage or some other reason that forced the issue. I'm asking because I may be joining you in the not so distant future, my last scope didn't look great. I think we are about the same age and I have not had a surgery yet. Was your surgery open or laproscopic?

Hi Big Betty,
I had a partial bowel obstruction that had some inflammation, but was primarily scar tissue from two strictures in my ileum. I did not respond at all to IV Prednisone and couldn't eat solids at all, so I guess I wouldn't call that elective. It was done laproscopically. The surgery went well. I ended out with c.diff several months after surgery which has now resolved, but I still have pretty significant IBS, though no reoccurrence of disease. Ask me anything you want to know. Or if you do a search, you can find all my whining as I went through surgery and recovery;-)

Thanks so much, Gumby, I really appreciate the offer to ask you about your surgery experience, that makes me feel better already. I need to follow up with my GI regarding a recent scope. I was groggy after when I talked to him but he did mention potential future surgery. Glad yours was successful.
