My doctor wants to give me an ostomy. I had a j-pouch since they took my colon out, in 05. Having lots of pain. Gas build up lately, right before my j-pouch. would a bag get rid of all the pain i have been having? I am on 15 mgs of prednisone and a drug called Stelera. Do not think the Stelera is doing a darn thing. Prednisone is what i think is working for me. Yes pred is a bad butt, a good drug. Yes my doc wants me off of the pred. As soon as they find a drug that can help me i will be more than happy to go off of the pred. killing my sleep and really bad for emotional wellbeing. any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know what to tell you, but maybe my posting will bump it back to the top where someone else will notice it. Talking to other ostomates is probably going to be your best place for advice. Can you get a second opinion for another doctor? I've found that my surgeon and GI don't necessarily agree on what should be done surgically. I hope someone can help you that knows more about the subject.
