hypothetically if Bill Gates funded research and gave 1 billion, would that do the trick? Maybe its simplistic but I feel its a matter of money (with most diseases)
On a tangent, but funny how back in the old days Polio was a big problem and they found a cure (before the time of big pharma)
I am thinking of writing the Gates foundation to help.
They didn't find a "cure" for polio. It's a viral infection and Dr Salk developed a vaccine for it.
There is a ton of money going into research for cancer, and the knowledge gained from that is applied to other conditions such as Crohn's disease. AIDS research has also led to a much better understanding of the immune system.
Money is certainly an issue with any kind of research, but all the money in the world is no guarantee that a complete understanding of a complex condition is imminent.
