Misunderstood treatment.

When I went in for my GI appointment, I understood that he would be getting me ready for Vedolizumab (Entyvio) which still isn't available, but I thought it would be soon through a Drug Trial.  The doctor did say when it becomes approved, I will be ready for it, or so I thought I heard?  I went to my general doctor a couple days later and was told the GI faxed him and he was starting me on Remicade treatment?  I could have cried.  I already had Remicade which the doctor forgot.  I didn't do well on it, so also refused Humira since both are anti TNF's.  I am not comfortable with these treatments, but because the Vedolizumab is organ specific and not systemic, I was more comfortable with this treatment.  I called the office to straighten things out, and both the GI and his nurse were out, so I left a message saying I will wait for the new medication.  No one responded back to me,  guess they are upset with me,  it was left at that.

I thought Entyvio was approved for us already? Or do you mean by your insurance?

Oh okay, got ya. That is frustrating. I hope they will make it available soon. When is your next appointment with this GI doc? Not right at all that they aren't communicating with you better.

I would keep prodding your GI. Sounds like he might have even made a mistake. Keep calling back until you get this sorted out.

If Vedolizumaub isn't on the horizon, then maybe it would be worth trying Humira in the meantime. Probably shouldn't go untreated for long.
