I need to have Prometheus IBD sig diagnostic done. My son needs Thiopurine Metabolites. Apparently Quest has entirely stopped drawing for Prometheus. Where are people going? My sons dr will take Quest Thiopurine Metabolite test but my GI says I have to drive over an hour each way to get the test I need. Anyone know of other labs drawing for Prometheus or how to find out?

Did you try LabCorp? I don't know if they do it but there is usually a location nearby. You should check if they are local and give a call to ask about the test.

I suggest that you call Prometheus labs directly and give your address and ask where to go

Labcorp does not list the test on the menu...I will try prometheus directly.

A nurse came to my house to draw my blood for the prometheus test.
As far as I know, you can't go to a clinic for that test.
Insurance billed me $5 grand but my GI's office fought it for me and so I never paid.

Wow $5,000!! My doctor is trying to get it approved with my insurance right now. He wants to see what my portion would be before we even try it. Which is good, because I don't want to pay a fortune for it. He seems to think I can go to any lab to draw it. Guessing he's wrong.

For the one test I am taking (IBD sig diagnostic), I have found out that I can have a mobile blood draw, but Prometheus says insurance is less likely to cover if it is a mobile blood draw. The closest lab they are contracted with is the one an hour away, so I guess I will be going. On the sort-of-good-news front, Prometheus also says prices have gone down some in the last little bit of time and that if insurance did not cover, my out of pocket would be $670. I don't really want to pay $670, but it is a sight better than $1200 or $5000.
