Long time, no see. Sorry but I've been doing really quite well overall.
But suddenly I have two purple areas that I first thought were bruises or scrapes. When I looked closer at them I noticed they were not. Some kind of skin lesion with small ***** looking bumps in them.
I need to know or see some pictures of PG. That should rule it out if its not, but this has me rattled.

There are plenty of pictures online for pyoderma gangrenosum, which can be scary as they are usually really bad cases.

I'm glad you've been doing well otherwise.

53 years old here. With no sense of humor, I would have died a long time ago with CD.
Used to be known as the kidney stone king here..

I don't know anything about PG, but I just wanted to say it was nice to see you post. I remember you from around the time I first joined the board. Glad things have been going good for you.

Well they were for a couple years. Reason I drifted away aside from some of my close friends leaving. I had another kidney stone attack last summer. Now this, so I cannot say I am doing well. Looks like my meds for arthritis & back pain has just covered up CD issues.

I'm sorry to hear that, Matthew. Kidney stones are tough to deal with. My husband was the "reigning king" of our family for a while but he's responded well to allopurinol and hasn't had one in a while.

He once had a lithotripsy on a stone that was hard to get to because of his hip bone being in the way. Where we live, the lithotripsy unit is a portable unit on a semi/trailer and is moved from hospital to hospital, so they prepped him inside the hospital (drugged him with pain meds via IV) and wheeled him out to the unit. They had to bring him back into the hospital and drug him back up for another round because of the stone's location, but they finally got it pulverized. He had a huge black bruise about 6" in diameter from the schock waves and his BP went up into the 200s on his top number, which the nurse said was due to the pain. I thought he was going to have a heart attack. So we have fearful respect of kidney stones.

I really hope your skin problem is not the start of PG. That scares me to even think about.

Well, skin is sloughing off those purplish areas. Not sure what to make of them, but it sure doesn't look like anything good.
Hmm, I saw where some thought I meant I had been doing well the whole time I stayed away. I meant I had previously been doing very well until last summer, when Kidney stones reared their ugly heads again.
And now this whatever it is...

Yeah, I thought you meant it was going well until the skin problem. I'm not sure what's going on with it being purplish in color.

Looked like a combo bruise\scrape at first. Then got blisters in them. It actually looked like Leprosy at first, except that is painless. Or becomes painless, the books & entries in Merck Manual & other sources are kind 0 f confusing ( & the biblical description covers about 15 different skin ailments!). I remember it from the Thomas Covenant fantasy novels years ago. It DID look like that at fist.
But this can be very painful at times, ruling that out ( I suppose I should be happy but hey, that is curable now unlike Crohn's, UC & IBD.
There used to be a little section somewhere here on IBD complications.
And some of the old timers had posted some pictures of PG..
Its not EN because I am vey well acquainted with that CD/UC gift. And its pretty common with me.
Aside from possible CD issue my spinal arthritis is getting worse. Pretty sure a disc is going\gone.

Well, just got to soldier on guess.

Matthew, I hate to hear that about your spinal arthritis too. I'm sure most people here get sick of my complaints about my arthritis, but it really keeps me in pain though the sulfasalazine had helped to some degree. My shoulders are better at least.

Yeah, bad posture & too much bending at work have caused a disc to become irritated. The arthritis is bad though. I get IBD arthritis on top of Osteoarthritis.
Well no one said growing old would be easy or painless but Mr. Crohn's has a terrible habit of throwing extra problems at me even now..
