Hi all, dropping in from lurking to talk about a couple of things that are bugging me.
Firstly, I'm in the midst of a flare, I'm also finishing up amoxicillin from a suspected infection. My bowels have been more active but not outright diarrhea. I've been drinking water, occasional gatorade / powerade, and yet I'm still getting occasional leg cramps / twitching in my calves and even just outright soreness especially in my thighs. I've also been under a lot of stress and anxiety alongside that and I know what it's capable of. I shouldn't be dehydrated or have an electrolyte imbalance but I worry about it. I do see my GP tomorrow so that should help.
Second. My next remicade is August 31st. I'm coming up on 4 years of being on it, but since May of last year (when my dose was doubled) I've started developing near immediate reactions. It started out with a mild chest tightness but has progressed. Now I experience moderate chest tightness, difficulty breathing, flushing, elevated pulse and BP. Last infusion the gave me solu-medrol when the symptoms appeared and had my GI actually come into the infusion room to check me out, he didn't seem overly concerned and for this coming infusion they are going to give me the solu-medrol prior to the infusion. Ever since starting Remicade I've taken Tylenol and Benadryl prior to my infusion
Does anyone else get similar reactions, and does pre-medding with solu-medrol help? I know my GI doesn't want to take me off remicade, and I don't necessarily want to switch either, but the reactions are getting tougher to deal with, even though they do not last long and don't seem to affect how long the med lasts in my system.
