Fistulotomy - Passing gas via open wound

Hi guys,

I am on day 10 of my post op fistulotomy and I was hoping someone could give me a few answers as I don't have my new visit with my Dr. for another week or so.

I've noticed that when I pass gas it comes out via the open wound and also at times if I have a very runny (sorry) bowel moment I also notice fecal matter oozing out of the wound. I take three sitz bath daily and I shower on top of that. I wipe with baby wipes after each bowel moment (there is still some pain and discomfort after my BMs) and just generally try to always keep the area as clean as possible.

I expected to have some pain and discharge but what I am concerned about is the passing of the wine through the wound and the fecal matter. Should this be happening with a successful fistulotomy, is this process normal or should I call and try and get in to see my Dr. before my scheduled visit in a week or so?

I've been dealing with this unfortunate matter since last November and I just am really hoping and praying I am on the home stretch as it really has been putting my life on hold.

The success rates for such difficult surgeries are very low.
I'm sorry you had to go through the pain of it all and still have a fistula draining stool and passing air.
I've had a fistula for 6 years now and experience the same symptoms, but all my surgeons don't think that surgery is worth the high risks.
Did they tell you this would cure you?
A better bet would be remicade. It made mine close up for almost 6 months before it reopened and started draining again. That's the only think that even came close to working for me.

Any new from your doctor?

I am suffering from crohns and had fistulectomy in may 2015 but the wound is still open. had last week appointment with surgeon and he confirmed that i have severe infection...

even i have gas passing through the wound. But only gas.
