It's been quite a while since I've posted, but I've been checking in now and then.
A little update: I was diagnosed with chrohns 50 years ago (no that is not a typo ) at the age of 19. I've had 3 bowel resection due to obstructions each about 18 years apart. Had some better time's and many flares. Although the pain and discomforts have varied through the years, the one symptom I haven't been able to find an answer for is the diarrhea. Have tried questran and limotil and presently am taking Imodium daily.
I've been on oral meds, remicade, humor and until recently, cimzia. Been taking entocort for many years. The cimzia and entocort seemed to help with the discomfort, and I was able to eat everything I wanted. My last colonoscopy this past July showed a great deal of inflammation (which has always been the case). I requested to stop taking the cimzia and my GI doctor feels that I should go on Entivio and taper off the entocort. I started taking methotrexate a few weeks ago to prevent developing antibodies to the Entivio. My first infusion is next week.
I'm tapering the entocort very slowly and am currently taking 6 mg a day. Haven't had a cimzia injection on a few months.
My symptoms have returned with a vengeance. Pain, cramps, worse diarrhea, etc.
Here's my dilemma : I was feeling well on the cimzia and entocort, except for the bathroom issue. I felt that if the cimzia was working, the inflammation should have been better so my GI agreed I should stop and try the Entivio. Hopefully that will help my bowel issue also. Feeling really misable right now and regretting this decision. Seems like the meds for this are basically pick your poison. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
