“Egg burps”

I got really sick a few weeks back. I had what I call “egg burps” where you keep burping a foul burp that is reminiscent of eggs. I read a little and they’re apparently sulfuric or something.
Anyway, my sister and I both had fries last night and now we’re both incredibly gassy (both ways…) and have stomach cramps. More egg burps. Does anyone know… can we take anything for the stomach pain? For the unending gas? Should we drink something fizzy to encourage burping or should we resist that? Thank you!

Just use some OTC indigestion meds, Tums or PeptoBismol and I'm sure it'll be fine and do the trick.

Thank you. Just had my lunch and threw it all up. No more playing around, it's time for Pepto.

Oh my, that's not good!! Hope the Pepto helps...there's the odd chance it could be a stomach bug, it's that time of year but hopefully it's just a case of bad indigestion....which I have no idea if indigestion would cause vomiting.

I'll have to ask my sister if she ended up throwing up too. I thought it was odd we both got the gross burps.
I had this same thing happen to me on Halloween morning... I am curious if it's a stomach bug, and if there's something I should do for it or just stay the course, suffer through and hope I get better like I did that past Saturday.

Oh my gosh, I have them again! What on earth am I eating that is causing these burps? This is the third time in less than a month I'm dealing with this. Egg burps, crampy, very gassy, and my stomach keeps rumbling. I just wish I knew what keeps causing this! Does anyone know???

Did you try Gaviscon Advance? What about Nexium or any other PPI or Motilium? When I have painful burning burps and distention, I take herbal anti-spasmodics.
Hope any of these will ease your symptoms.

Herbal anti-spasmodics... is that what the Gaviscon Advance/Nexium/Motilium is? I am willing to try pretty much anything to help. Thank you!

Could it be some sort of food poisoning or something like salmonella or e. coli?

I'm not sure. I don't know if food poisoning comes and goes like that. I've been trying to remember the things I ate before I got them. This last time I (pardon me... sorry) didn't go #2 as much as last time and I also didn't throw up again, so this last one wasn't as bad. Thank you guys for your responses!

Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor; it works on the proton pump of the stomach and reduces the amount of acid it produces.
Motilium (domperidone) reduces vomiting and it also works on the stomach.
Gaviscon Advance soothes heartburn and forms like a foam that prevents acid from coming back (refluxing).
The purpose of all these meds is to reduce stomach acidity; thus preventing the chance of it coming back into the esophagus and causing heartburn and vomiting.
Herbal anti-spasmodics they also call them food supplements consist of herbs like fennel, peppermint, thyme and other herbs that eliminate distention and flatulence.

You are a well of information, thank you! When I feel queasy, I take this generic Zofran stuff. Do you think if I got some Motilium, it would interfere with that? Do you think it's, like, acid that I've been burping? Thanks for your help!

Try cutting back on fatty and spicy foods. They're notorious culprits in indigestion.

It does seem like it can be GERD....gastro-esophageal reflux, or acid indigestion. I don't think the Zoran will interfere with the proton pump inhibitors (like Nexium, prolosec, etc.) Maybe you should call your GI. You might need an upper endoscopy to see what's up.

I had bad GERD and Dexilant (another proton pump inhibitor) really helped me. Strangely, after my resection for my stricture in my ileum, the upper GI stuff disappeared and never returned. My theory is that things were backing up due to the stricture and causing symptoms, but my docs don't think that makes sense to them.

Hmm... fatty foods. Maybe that's the culprit. I don't mind spicy foods too much but I also rarely eat them. I've been trying to lower the carbs in my day (I'm also a type 2 diabetic) and maybe there's simply too much fat in my diet?
Do you guys think enough is enough with these burps or maybe it's a fluke or something?

Ha, you were smart there, gumby. I'm anemic too and had one two weeks ago. Doctor didn't find much (just a hernia) but I'm still waiting on results from biopsies. Next is a pill cam, so I'm definitely searching for what people have said about those on the forum.
It happened yet again this past Saturday and I was so miserable. My burps could have killed someone. The cramps were terrible and I was rendered into a useless pile of bones and fat. My sister had to get me Pepto and she kindly made me a bland dinner (toast), even though I had no appetite.
