Need some positivity - have you ....

Been diagnosed with food poisoning whilst on all the immuno bashing drugs? How long did it take you to recover? I was trundling along quite nicely and this has hit me like a brick wall... I've fallen off a cliff (and every other analogy).

I've suspected Salmonella. As usual I battled on at home too long ... I hate time wasters who go to the doc for the merest sniffle ... But I realise now I'm too much the other way.

After a week my temp reached 104 (40) and there was no sign on dropping so off I stagger. Four days of diarrhoea (like I'd take the most effect prep in the world) and losing 9lbs (now a skeletal 110lbs and 5ft 10in yuk!) I'd waited long enough. Turns out, added to this my heart rate was 110, my BP only 60/40! And CRP was 200. No wonder I felt so dire. I was apparently dangerously dehydrated.

I begged not to go to hospital (again) and the doc (reluctantly) dosed me with flagyl, amoxicillin and rehydrating stuff and said she come to my home the next day as I was too ill to travel to check my BP. thankfully it rose to 80/60 and temp is down ... But still feel like crape. Stool test results awaited/another blood test for Monday. If CRP is high I'm back 'inside'.

I never expect miracle recoveries but anyone with any experience as to how long this takes to get over? Feeling very down. Due to fly off to spend Xmas with family and so don't want to miss that ... But so want to be well.

Were you pretty much good to go after 5 days? Or still on oral after that?
