I have strictures from surgery, now I'm on remicade and watch out if I digest something normally, OUCH!! I highly reccommend apple sauce and yogurt and not to eat things like steak or to many breads, thats what gets stuck! My gut does the same thing and then it lets out a rumble and I feel relief and shortly after I use the washroom, perfectly normal. It's damage done that can just cause you to curl up and wait for it to pass. Definitely add fiber, even in the smallest amounts. It helps! I also wouldn't reccomend a a barium swallow, that's just barbaric, it's like drinking concrete. My Dr knows not to do that to me anymore, it's torture....more torturous than the colonoscopy which evidently showed a stricture in your sons intestine. Also remember every patient is different, symptoms come and go. I don't always scream while digesting lol. I have to watch my portion intake, when you first start feeling "full" STOP EATING! It's the 80% rule, I remember looking at my Dr and saying, "WHAT? How am I supposed to know when I'm 80%full??" He laughed and said, "you'll figure it out." and I did just that through trial and error. I hope your son doesn't feel that pressure and release much longer. Just bc he's on remicade does not mean he cannot have the odd flare or inflamed tissue. I know 20+ years of fighting it, tell him to keep up the good fight and to not involve narcotics as treatment for pain. They're just bandaids and actually make things worse. All the best over the Christmas season to you and your son :)
