Had my fecal transplant today

Hi gang,
I had my colonoscopy and fecal transplant. First of all NO ACTIVE CROHN'S!!!! Woo hoo! That made me very happy! I had to lay flat for an hour after the procedure and took two Immodium before and two Immodium after the procedure. I am supposed to lie flat for 12 hours and try not to poop. I did go a little bit....couldn't help it, but hopefully thats ok. I have bad gas and cramps. I'm supposed to wait about 4 hours before eating....but I've come this far. Hopefully this works. Scifi or anyone else who has had FMT....what was your initial recovery like?

Anyway, I'm relieved to have it finally over with and hopeful to actually get better. Thanks as always for all your support these last several months as I have struggled with this nasty disease!

Wow...hoping this helps you get past the past! 12 hours lying flat?!?!?!?! Frankly I would only eat cheese or other foods that bind me up so I didn't have to go...
Hoping you have a pile of good books or some good movies to watch!

Hooray!!! Wow, I didn't have any rules like that at all. I didn't take Immodium or anything, but I did eat constipating foods. I think I had a BM the first few hours afterwards. But the recovery was no different than a regular colonoscopy at all. So I think you're fine to have had a BM. I do remember lots of bad gas and cramps, but I get those every time after a colonoscopy. I am pretty sure that it was pretty much gone in the next day or two.

I am really so excited for you about this! Lol, it's so weird the things we Crohnies get excited about...."I'm so happy you had someone else's poop put in your stomach!" I was at the bookstore a couple of months afterwards and found a fridge magnet that said, "Yay for donors!" I bought it for my mom (my donor) to keep as an inside joke on her fridge. It made us both laugh.

Thanks everyone! My hubby stayed home from work and he rented a bunch of movies for me. I slept through most of the first one....Bridge of Spys with Tom Hanks. It think it was good, but I'm just wiped out....keeps me lying flat anyway! Thanks for all your good wishes. I'm hopeful to move forward and be healthy for awhile---that would be a nice change:-) Wishing health for all of us!!!!

Congrats :p

It's great news that you have no active Crohn's. Now let's hope the faecal transplant knocks the c. diff on the head.

I think my GI said we'd know if it was good if 1) the c. diff. didn't come back on its own, and 2) the next time I took antibiotics for whatever reason, I didn't immediately get c. diff.

Some of the D might be from your IBS and the irritation from the prep.

I am feeling very uncomfortable and constipated. I took 1/2 dose of Miralax last night and pooped a little but still having a lot of cramping. I generally do terrible with even 1/2 Imodium pill and I had to take 4 for the procedure, so I don't know if it is from that, but I think I'm going to take a little more laxative to feel better. The good news is that it sure doesn't feel like c.diff! I am hopeful, but really having bad discomfort, so it's hard to get too excited! I'll keep you posted. Thanks for asking!

I was popping 8 Imodium pills a day at one point, trying to slow things down/stop the godawful urgency - it made no difference :/

It's good news that it's (probably) not c. diff at any rate. Hopefully the discomfort is a temporary reaction and will pass soon, but I know how these things suck.

I struggled with feeling constipated the first few days. It doesn't surprise me that you are since you took Imodium. It felt uncomfortable, but it passed after a couple of days! (no pun intended)
