Remission yay!!!

Well I finally got to see my gi Dr on March 3rd. She said according to my last colonoscopy and blood work that I'm finally in remission with my crohns. However I still keep having abdominal pains. She said my crohns has caused me to develop ibs as well. And that is what is causing my pain. She did bump my Endicott back up to 9mg since I was having daily migraines, legs aches and pains, and leg cramps. Since I've had no migraines. Still dealing with the other 2 but it's better. Since I have ibs how am I going to know if my pains are just due to ibs rather than ibd? Do most of yall have ibd with ibs?

Hi Bucko and congrats! There isn't a precise way to tell the difference between IBS and IBD symptoms. You have to base it on lab results, biopsies, etc. If I get anemia, I know it is a Crohn's flare and not IBS for example. It does seem odd to take Entocort if you are in remission though. what's up with that??

I always get daily migraines while on a taper; they eventually go away after I am all done with the steroids. The leg cramps/aches are the same way. It's usually because your potassium levels go low when you're on a taper. That's really weird that she said you were in remission since you are on steroids - technically it isn't remission unless you don't have symptoms and you are OFF the steroids. I don't think it can be considered remission when the steroids are being taken.

I'm not thrilled with my gi Dr in the first place. She is going on maternity leave soon. In the meantime I'm gonna a get my referral to a different dr. I even suggested taking 9mg one day then 6MG the next day for a few weeks then a few weeks on 6mg etc, but she said that wasn't necessary. Since I went back 9mg my migraines are gone but my leg cramps are horrible. Even when I walk my feet cramp up and then it runs up my legs. What could be going on with this? I wake up in the night with cramps. Also my period cramps are horrible not to mention its still going on strong for 10 days now. Totally not normal for me.
