Call me weird but I use to have about a 1/4 bottle of beer in my V-8 which went down great on a summers day. That was until last year, seems like even a pinch of alcohol lately bothers my gut now, but I think wine is even worse for me. After hosting a dinner, I ended up in the hospital after a meal and glass of wine. I had a partial obstruction at the time because I was vomiting a lot, they hooked me up to a stomach pump. The nurse asked me if I drank. I told her only about 1 a year. She didn't look like she believed me. She told me that my stomach contents looked like that of someone who has cirrohsis of the liver. What? Don't know what is in wine, that would have caused me to inflame, or obstruct, but usually, where there was wine, there was food, so maybe the both contributed.
Anyways, both wine and beer can be good for your health, a little bit that is, provided you aren't allergic to any of the ingredients they add, like sulphites. The malt they use to make beer actually is a good relaxant and if you get a good heavy beer, it is usually chock full of B vitamins, not to mention a good appetite stimulant.. Enjoy (a little) only if you can.
