Regarding the TSA, I've never been hassled by them about medication. Technically they say you're supposed to have all your pills in their original bottles with prescription information but I've never done that. I pack them unlabeled in travel pill containers, keep them in my carry-on, and I never declare or say a word about them to TSA. You're not supposed to declare them unless they are liquids over 3oz.
I've found the less you say to TSA the better. When I first flew with my ostomy I declared it and they didn't know what the heck an ostomy was or what to do and it was a mess. Ever since then I've never said a word and just go through security like everyone else with no problem. I pack liquid medications for my kids (over the 3oz limit) and never declare them or take them out of my carry-on. TSA never says a word.
Another source of stress for me has always been bathroom access on the plane. I always get an aisle seat. While I've never done this, you can talk to a flight attendant before you take off and explain your medical condition and that you may need immediate access to the bathroom.
