The 15 mg of prednsone that I was put on did me a world of good, well, after about
the 4th- to 5th day. The inflammatory bowel and rectal burn went away, the left sided pain is gone, the diarrhea and mucosy stools are like 85% gone. Actually I had crohn's related diarrhea for so many years, I thought I would never see a formed BM, well, it happened which shows me the bowel is capable of repair and change. Could inflammation of all these years, kept me in a diarrheal state for that long? Also another positive effect was that my joint pain disappeared. I actually felt good for the short time I was on 15 mg.
But last week I was dropped to 10 mg for next 2 weeks, and then have to contact the doctor. Don't know if it was co incidental, but a couple of days later, I woke up with a bad headache, every joint in my body ached, and I can feel the intestinal burn again, although not as bad, with more diarrhea, although I still have some formed BM''s in between. Today I feel a bit better, so maybe my body is adjusting to the lower dose.
I know I can't stay on prednsione for long, but hey, I'm really grateful, it was a nice break and rest for me. one that I needed so badly, as I was pretty much left untreated for 5 years, as I could not agree to taking Biolgics and my Dr was reluctant to continue treating me with Prednisone, so he didn't. It's terrible having crohn's and not have a treatment or relief for it, well up to now, that it. Even gave me some hope. I know after I get dropped to 5 mg, my doctor will be bringing up Remicade and Humira again. We'll see what happens?
