Excessive Gas

Is this a symptom for anyone? Some days, maybe when I eat too much or eat heavy foods, I will literally have gas ALL NIGHT long. It is HORRIBLE. My husband is a doll and never mentions it but there is literally no way he doesn't notice and there are times when I think it actually wakes him out of a deep sleep (he denies this, but all the sudden he will start moving around so . . .). It would be funny if it weren't so embarrassing. I don't eat much during the day because of work so it's really only at night until I have a BM in the morning. And days that I don't eat much I don't notice it; however, I really need to eat throughout the day in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Does anyone wls have gas to this extent? Any remedies? On top of the gas I just feel like a bloated corpse and it is so uncomfortable and disrupts my sleep.

Gas has always been a problem for me. Within ten minutes of eating anything I'll start having gas, some foods will create more problems than others. For the last few years I have slept in a different bedroom just because of the gas problems. Sometimes the smell even grosses me out!

Unfortunately I think it is SIBO. I had it bad years ago from strictures but it went away after my surgery. I am more concerned that this is indicating narrowing. I called my GI yesterday and he is leaving for vacation today so I have an appointment with his nurse practitioner this afternoon. I am hoping she will give me an antibiotic to help. In the past Flagyl has worked well, but of course it always came back, but it was good for about 1 month of relief.

Gas X does nothing for me and the only diet change that works is literally not eating anything. And of course my appetite has actually been pretty good the last few weeks, so I wake up starving and eat a huge breakfast which sets everything off for the day.

I had to cancel my last work appointment yesterday because I was so distended and uncomfortable (in actual pain actually) and am still feeling pretty Blah this morning. Doesn't help that my 5 year old woke me up at 5:45, when my alarm was set for 7, asking for juice and cartoons (I cannot relate to this early bird child, that's all his dad. I need to have another that takes after my sleep habits: daily naps and sleeping in until late morning whenever possible). ANYWAY, I have 3 appointments today for work and then am off until Thursday, so hopefully a little rest and a good antibiotic does the trick. Thanks for all the input!
