"Constipated diarrhea" - has anyone experienced this?

so usually I just have diarrhea, accompanied by a lot of gas, which causes that urgency feeling. Lately I have been experiencing something new - I have been having a lot of gas, especially at night when I am lying down, but when I feel like I have to go to the bathroom maybe a tiny bit of very soft stool will come out then nothing. It's similar symptoms, a bit of cramping, feeling like the diarrhea is going to come and then nothing - until however many minutes later on the toilet and I get another small rush of diarrhea. It feels like I'm constipated and have to strain but nothing comes out, then every so often diarrhea will come.
Has anyone else experienced this? My last colonoscopy was maybe 6 months back and my dr said everything looked great (I know how quickly that can change though). I don't have the same symptoms as a flare (weight loss, blood in stool, waking up to run to the bathroom, dozens of bowel movements a day) - so is this something new that hopefully will pass?
Any advice i helpful; I want to make sure I am dealing with this appropriately sooner than later! :/

Thanks Minnie - I guess what I technically have is Crohn's colitis, so although I've had flares where it's caused inflammation and ulcers from my mouth all the way through to my anus (that was fun), it's mainly concentrated in my colon. I could ask my GI for suppositories and see if that helps - usually going to the bathroom is no problem and I go several times a day, so this is new. I have noticed (TMI) that my stool is a more pale brown with mucous and a bit of blood, but I can't tell if the blood if from inside or from maybe hemorrhoids from straining. There's never an easy answer! I don't mind dealing with this, but I always worry that it's something that will get worse.
