I had a bowel resection 5 weeks ago - before my resection I was going to the gym 4 times a week and was very active. I'm a 33yo healthy (besides crohns) girl would is usually active... I'm now so winded just Walking up stairs, I'm so out of breath. I did get pneumonia after surgery (awful) any advice on thing I can do to help get me back into shape??? For those of you have went through this... Is this normal to feel so out of shape? I've never had surgery before

Do you use the incentive spirometer to help your lungs recover after the surgery and pneumonia? How is your oxygen saturation and heart rate? If those are abnormal they could cause the symptoms you have otherwise it is most likely weakness and deconditioning.

I think you should check with your doc to make sure your lungs/pneumonia is completely recovered. And don't work out until you feel up to it. You can de-condition quickly. I am 57 and wasn't in as good of shape or as young as you. I started with slow walks daily and built up from there.
