When I was little (5-9 ish) I got strep throat a lot, and was treated with typical antibiotics.
they suddenly stopped, although I would still get very sore throats with white spots, but would always test negative for strep throat. pediatrician would always chalk up to virus (but she also chalked my bloody stools to constipation)
fast forward to getting diagnosed with IBD and starting on remicade, the sore throats and white spots improved a lot. now that I am not feeling too hot, I noticed my throat was sore and I had white spots. A throat culture this morning showed it was negative.

I was thinking that its possibly just a manifestation of Crohns in my throat, what do you think of that? does it make sense? not at all?

Have you had it tested for thrush? White spots sound a lot like thrush to me, and I've randomly gotten it before. It causes an awful sore throat.

It doesn't have the characteristics of thrush
They are small and it doesn't smell very bad. Thrush can be more "cottage cheese" like.
I am going to my pcp next week for "healthy" checkup and can ask him.
I am also going to an ent the following to finally take care of my dumb nosebleeds that I've had for years. I can ask him if my pcp doesn't know.

I first thought it was tonsil stones but tonsil stones are just deposits that can be knocked off.

Both times I had thrush in my mouth, they didn't smell bad and were small spots.

Oh... In that case... Could be.
Just wondering why it went away when I was doing well and comes back when I'm doing less well.
Esp cuz meds are suppressing immune system I would be more susceptible to thrush etc...

Yeah, it is probably Crohn's, but a culture for thrush doesn't hurt to check! :)

Oh, and have you had your tonsils remove? That's what several of my siblings had to do when they'd get chronic strep.

they are most likly apthos ulcers from the ibd.. look it up and compare what they look like.. you can ask for some lidocane gargle to dull the pain if its to painfull to eat much..

Never had tonsils removed, my doc threatened but then I stopped getting strep...
I will ask bout thrush culture and I will look at those ulcers

My colleague's little boy was dx with crohn's about 2 years ago. He only has it in his mouth, throat and esophagus. I'm suspicious that yours is crohn's as well. Good luck with pcp.

You are correct. My diagnosis was just changed to crohns like 2 weeks ago. I have some small Bowel inflammation and "nodularity"
Testing remicade to see if I have antibodies or if levels are just too low
If just too low will switch to every 4 weeks or so
If antibodies possibly stelara becuse its anti il23 and I have a lot of excema that is consistent with flaring.
Seems those who have excema that is consistent with flaring make more il23 or something like that.
