I don't know why I'm still going! I have this incredible urge to go and...nothing. Every twenty minutes in the bathroom dry-heaving. I don't know if I'm complaining or asking for advice but this is awful. Remi is still two weeks away. Uggghhh.

Do you mean your urge is only to throw up? Are you passing gas or having bowel movements?

If you aren't having bowel movements and no gas, I would suspect a blockage or partial blockage.

You really need to get in to see your GI right away, or go to the emergency room.

Tenesmus is the worst. It's like having to vomit- but poo
And you think it's an emergency with the worst urgency and nothing comes out. Maybe some mucous/blood but it's bad.
I hate it with all my gut (see what I did)
Rectal steroids like cortifoam might be the way to go. It will be hard at first to hold em in because of the rectal inflammation. But as you do, you will heal more and be able to hold em in more.
You could also do uceris (distal bowel release of budesonide)
Anti-cholergenics will help, but not very safe.
Tylenol and tramadol are safe
A very hot hot pack/water bottle can relieve some of the discomfort of tenesmus
try low residue till the hell is over.
((Hugs)) I've been there and know it stinks.

Did you manage to sleep at all?

Thank you! Got some intermittent sleep last night. Had an almost normal bm today. Thanks for the word dikid. Tenesmus. Nice to put a face to it.

How you feeling now?
Did you contact your GI?
Likely rectal inflammation ( may be pelvic floor issue but not as likely)

Feeling better now, but we'll see. Kind of counterintuitively, ate alot yesterday. Seemed to work as I have had two well-formed bm's today (tmi). Definitely some rectal issues. I had hemorrhoids a week back and treated with witch hazel, lidocaine, etc. It probably sounds unlikely, but I find that after I treat external hemorrhoids they tend to retreat into the rectum and thus the bane of internal hemorrhoids. Who knows.
I know I should talk to my gi, but he'll want to examine me and his office is 45 minutes away. He's a good doc, but too far. I think I'm gonna switch gi's.
