Yesterday it all began when i was watching tv. My forehead began itching...like really bad. Then my whole face was itching severely especially my eyes. My eyes then felt like i had grit in them. My eyelids began to swell. I also started itching on other spots on my body but that wasnt too bad. Today my face feels like im sunburnt from scratching it. But it still itches. However there is now obvious rash. My eyes are still bloodshot and feel weird. Has anyone ever had this experience? Is it crohns related? What should i do about
it?

That sounds like a reaction to a med (or something environmental?). what are you currently taking? My mother had that exact reaction to avalox. I had a similar one each time I was on flagyl until one year I took it and the visible rash appeared which for me was the end of flagyl because each time my reaction was getting worse. Does Benadryl help? I would call your doctor.

Well, I would take Benadryl and if it gets better, you could narrow it down to an allergy (then will have to figure out what that allergy is). It's less likely but I believe it would still be possible to develop an allergy to meds even when you have been on them a while. If it doesn't not, I believe there are other autoimmune diseases that can cause severe itching but I think that would be a lot less common. I've had a lot of itching at times but usually focused on my extremities and yours sounds a lot more severe.

You need Benadryl and if that doesn't help they will add Prednisone. You should be call your doc right away and let them know this is happening. If you have any trouble breathing head to the ER!

Definitely take benadryl. If your lips or tongue start to swell at all, go to the ER immediately, or even call 911.

Which dr, your pcp or your GI? Your pcp is most likely going to assume it's an allergy to one of your Crohn's meds and refer you to your GI. Also make sure you get a referral to an allergist. I had this happen last year, and everyone just thought it was a Remi allergy until the test results showed no antibodies. Turns out I had randomly developed a sulfate allergy.
