Can I combine both entocort and pred - Question?

Lower right quadrant pain has become worse than before. It reminds me of when I first started having Crohn's 9 years ago. I don't want to remember the severity of pain then.

Since my friend has informed me that she won't be able to get me more entocort soon and I've failed tapering it off because of dependence, I have been thinking to find a way out.

I have 67 capsules left. I have to start a very slow taper. But first I have to get back to my comfort zone of 3 mg esp. that remicade infusion will be delayed fora couple of days, too.

I'll try next week or maybe the week after to start tapering again. But I got an idea. Is it acceptable to add 5mg of pred while tapering? Pred has never helped me before and entocort was my life saver. Would these 5mg be of any help? It seems I need to get an appointment with my GI and discuss solutions with him. What do you think of adding these 5mģ?

I'm doing the opposite right now. I had to put myself on prednisone to get me to my new doctor's appointment next week. So I had enough to taper myself down to 7 mg, and now I'm adding back the entocort since I'm running out of prednisone. I've added back 6 mg of entocort. I plan on staying at the 7 mg of Prednisone and take the entocort until I get to next weeks appointment. From what I've read it's common to use Entocort to get off of prednisone, so that's how I figured it was okay to take some of both. Yes, I know it's not good to treat yourself like this, but sometimes we get left without much help and have to do what we have to do!

Yes, Jen I did the same as you did 5 years ago. Adding entocort was the only way that allowed me to pull myself out of pred.
I'll wait and hope I might find extra entocort. If not, I'll resort unwillingly to pred as it's ineffective.

Hope things get better for you! That's why I resorted to pred, I knew I was in too bad of shape just for the entocort at that point. It was either that or end up in the hospital, and I really try to avoid that as much as possible!

Hope you get better soon too. Well, it was a typo above. Pred is ineffective for me still I'll give it a try.

I've taken both at the same time, under my GI's prescribing.
