Mucous in stool?

Does anyone experience having mucous in their stool very often? My Daughter had some diarrhea yesterday and today, and said there was mucous in her stool. Something she hasn't had since before being diagnosed 10 years ago.

She did have some prime rib that I made last night, and meat just doesn't seem to agree with her.

She feels fine otherwise, no viruses, fevers etc. Could this be a fluke one time issue?

In almost 30 years of Crohn's I'd never had an issue with mucus - other than small little amounts here and there that are probably fairly normal - until one day a couple months ago when I had a bowel movement that was nothing but a blob of mucus as big as a tennis ball. Weirdest thing ever to me. Then I was right back to my normal after that.

So, yeah, it could be a fluke one time issue. It's also a common sign/symptom when there is inflammation in the colon, however, so see if it continues or if it's a one time thing like mine was.

I consistently pass mucus, even when in remission. I've only had minor issues with blood in my stool over the years, but I almost always have some mucus. I don't worry about it too much unless it's a large amount.

I get mucous after I am pooping a lot, especially with diarrhea. My GI wasn't too concerned about it. It is so much harder to watch your child suffer than yourself. I understand why you worry, but wish there was a magic way to take it away!!
