Last year, during that time of the year, my Hb level dropped. At the beginning , my GI tried to up it with a medicine that activates the body's production of red blood cells and when the level kept dropping, he put me on Ferosac (iron sucrose ) iv infusions every week. At the beginning the improvement was very slow, and I had to go to the hospital for 6 successive weeks. When the Hb level rose to 11.8, he stopped it.
After starting Remicade this year, my Hb level rose surprisingly to 13 mg which I have never seen before. My GI referred this improvement to remicade.
Anyways, I'm having the symptoms of iron deficiency again. I have fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath and I feel I'm very weak. I know these symptoms very well because I have had them for years when my Hb level was 11 and GI used to tell me it's acceptable.
Will have in 2 weeks a panel of blood work to investigate the new issue of bruising and will have cbc and calprotection in stool tests as well.
My question is: Is it normal to have recurrent anemia even if it had lately been treated and rose to a normal level? Btw, I don't have bleeding neither occult blood as far as know. I have active Crohn's. Could it be a cause?
