That's what bugs me about
the diet. The SCD proponents always give these vastly oversimplified explanations for it, making it sound far more scientific than it actually is. I get even more irritated when they bang on about
the necessity of following it 100% to the letter, or else.
Except that children with Crohn's get into remission on liquid diets containing drinks (e.g. Ensure) that are
full of 'illegal' ingredients. There are many studies showing the effectiveness of enteral nutrition, so it's not just me talking out of thin air.
I'd like to see the SCD folks explain that one. Or at least just admit that they don't really know how the diet works; it just does (for them).
