Discomfort after upper endoscopy

Should I have discomfort after an upper endoscopy with biopsies (test was yesterday morning)? First of all, I slept for 22 hours after the procedure, holy moly too much drugs. So I haven't eaten in well over 30 hours, but it is uncomfortable to swallow, eat and drink. I feel like I have horrible indigestion, something just sitting atop my upper stomach. It's hugely uncomfortable. I'm also still high as a kite. Sheesh....

It sounds like you may have been over-sedated or maybe you're having an unusual reaction to that drug. I never felt high after a scope or other procedure wherein I was sedated. It's fairly normal to have a sore throat after an endoscopy, but I'm not sure about the esophageal/stomach area. The last time I had one, I already had gastritis and was hurting there anyway. Gargling with warm salty water may help the sore throat. Maybe someone else will reply that may be more helpful, but if it doesn't get better or gets worse, you may want to contact your doctor.

I've had 7 upper endoscopies so far. I never felt high on any of them. I once had a sore throat that lasted for 4 days and became better by time. Try to eat gentle food on your stomach like rice pudding, pudding, custard and jello but don't take too much milk; just a few drops of skimmed milk in order not to irritate your stomach. If it gets worse, contact your GI ASAP.
