Systemic inflammation is body-wide inflammation; it's everywhere, as opposed to targeting one area. Crohn's usually attacks the gut, but some people have extra-intestinal (i.e. outside the gut) manifestations and get inflammation in the joints, eyes, skin, etc.
It's a shame the appointment isn't a bit sooner. Hopefully the new GI will do his/her own tests, including another colonoscopy.
