It seems like for.the.past4 months ive been dealing with a lot. For instance ovarian cysts' perianal abscess. Appendicitis. Inflammation in soft tissue around my ribs. Large hematoma. Crohns flare in sigmoid. Diverticulosis.migraines.extreme fatigue. And now extreme pain in joints and muscles. I literally hurt so bad in my hands i cant even pick up things. I cant open jars or carry milk. Plus when i sleep i wake up with my arms numb from elbow down. The other areas that hurt are hips thighs knees and back. Is there anyone who has experienced something similar. Motrin helps a little bit. Yes i know i shouldnt be taking motrin. Ive already been on prednisone 4 times recently. So i cant stay on that. What about going back on enticort? I still wanna know whats causing my pain. Oh and ive been having very mususy stool.

Having Crohn's, I would always address the Crohn's issues first. What maintenance meds are you taking right now? Some of the other issues, particularly joint pain related, may be a result of being on Pred so many times. You may be having adrenal suppression as a result, and that can make you feel pretty awful. It can take several months to level out from that.

I have some of things your experiencing. I too get the numbness in my arms along with hand issues. Definitely stay away from Motrin. If you really feel that you need some sort of pain med, then stick with Tylenol.

You need to get to your GI and Doctor soon and push to have these issues addressed. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I agree about the need to stay away from Motrin. Taking it once in a while is okay, but not daily. Unfortunately tylenol on its own is useless: it works much better in conjunction with other painkillers. Amitriptyline could help. It's an old style antidepressant, but in low doses has been found to be helpful for nerve pain. Actually I think duloxetine (Cymbalta) has helped a lot with my pain. I was having similar symptoms of numbness and tingling, but not as bad as you. IIRC, duloxetine has been licensed for the treatment of fibromyalgia/neuropathy. *checks* It has.

If that doesn't help, then you should be referred to a rheumatologist for the joint pain. I'd also try and avoid even Entocort if you can - steroids really are a disaster zone for the body. 73monte has already asked you, but what meds are you on for the Crohn's?

I gave in and took a motrin. However 2 hours later im still hurting. It didnt help at all. I literally hurt all over. I take cymbalta and it helps wwith nerve pain im my belly. My son takes amitriptyline. If i take a Vicodin then i will be asleep for hours. I cant sleep cas i have to take care of my grandkids for the weekend. I currently take methotrexate for my crohns.

If the Motrin doesn't help, I wouldn't take it anymore - it could make your Crohn's worse. I'm not a painkiller expert, but Tramadol might be less sleep-inducing than Vicodin.

Methotrexate is an old drug and not much used anymore. Are you any closer towards getting a new GI? 'Cos you ought to talk about starting a biologic.

Hi Bucko, i have or had many but not all of the problems you are having. I really think you need urgent help be it doctor or ER. Methotrexate is usually used for Arthritis so it's concerning that you are still having joint pains. Plus the numbness, I had a lot of numbness when I was on humira and it was one of the main reasons I was told to immediately stop it. Much of your pain may just be systemic inflammation. I know personally all my labs come back fine but everything starts to hurt and the migraines kick in as I start to need my next dose of remicade so it seems to be related to inflammation of some sort. I hope you find an answer soon!

i finally recieved my insurance card yesterday so im gonna make an appt with my pcp tomorrow. What exactly is systemic inflammation? My appt with my new gi dr is jan 17th. At one point my old gi dr was thinking about switching me to remicade. But after my colonoscopy, which they did no biopsies, they.said was normal she changed her mind. In the ti area the pics showed to have rather large lumps but not red and angry. I asked the gi dr about it and she said that was just a lot of enlarged lymph nodes not to be worried about it. But doesnt enlarged lymphnodes indicate that your body is fighting off something?

Systemic inflammation is body-wide inflammation; it's everywhere, as opposed to targeting one area. Crohn's usually attacks the gut, but some people have extra-intestinal (i.e. outside the gut) manifestations and get inflammation in the joints, eyes, skin, etc.

It's a shame the appointment isn't a bit sooner. Hopefully the new GI will do his/her own tests, including another colonoscopy.

Well i finally was able to see my pcp about my overall body pain and numbness and tingling. He agreed my crohns is being poorly managed with methotrexate. He was only able to prescribe tramadol and 650 mg of tylenol. When i see my new gi dr in january im sure they will switch me to remicade. I also had him look at the 2 abscesses on my belly. They are about an inch in diameter. He prescribed clindamycin. If they dont get better in a few days then he will have to lance them.

I couldnt take the pain of the abscesses anymore. So i sterilized a needle and pierced the abscess. This very dark looking green goo came out. Sorry tmi. It was sooo gross. However the abscesses still hurt. I hope the antibiotic starts working soon.
