Hi my name is Lisa my daughter was diagnosed December 2015 with crohns disease she is currently taking pentasa omeprazole daily vitamin calcium with d feosol methotrexate every saturday 6 pills she is doing ok very fatigued she had labs drawn CRP is 39 so she inflammation but doc doesn't know why getting repeat blood test did anyone ever have this I'm so nervous please give me some input about this CRP

Sorry to hear of the diagnosis. Did they do upper and lower scopes with biopsies to confirm.

As stated Pentasa is not a good medication for Crohn's. Many now consider it totally ineffective. Are you seeing a GI? Your family Doctor cannot deal with IBD, and you need a good GI that you can have confidence in.

There's two schools of thought on treatment. You can opt for a top down approach, which would mean choosing the most sophistcated medication, or you can try to see if the disease can be controlled with a more moderate approach. An immunosuppressant like Imuran/6mp or Methotrexate might be enough for her

You might want to get further diagnostics done first. Perhaps and MRE would be a good choice, as it's the least invasive and safest.

It is hard to be a parent with a child who has Crohn's. My son was diagnosed 18 months ago and it has been a roller coaster where he has had several medication changes based on blood results, symptoms etc. More blood tests are specifically needed and I would advocate for scopes, MREs etc. I think that it is difficult in the beginning to find the right drug combination. My son has settled on remicade, methotrexate, probiotoics (florastor), folic acid and vitamin B. He is doing wonderfully but it took a while to get here.
