Hello!

I was diagnosed with Crohn's in fall of 2015. Since then I have been using remicade. I stopped 6mp last fall when I started to think about trying to conceive. Doctors were on board.

Come to find out I have recently developed antibodies to remicade and MRI shows inflammation in large bowel. GI wants to put me on Humira and start back up on 6mp. The whole thing is crazy as I feel great lately, maintaining weight for last 12 months, formed BMs only once a day, no pain unless I have too much dairy...

This is my second month trying to get pregnant. So, who out there has had healthy babies on Humira and/or 6mp?

Both my babies are Remicade babies (which really is so similar to Humira), and a coworker who has Crohn's had a perfectly healthy baby last year while on Imuran the whole time. smile

My first baby was conceived on Remicade and 6mp. I had been on remicade for 4 years and 6mp only one.
As soon all the OBs found out about the 6mp, they told me to go off of it, but I wouldn't do it until I talked to my GI. He said that I was on a very low dose of 6mp, which would pose little harm to a fetus, but since it wasn't my primary drug that I needed to function, he also recommended that I go off of 6mp. I only had a little flare when I did so.
It takes 3 months for 6mp to work and 3 months to completely get out of your system, so basically my baby was exposed to 6mp for the entire first trimester.
He was delivered by caesarean at 39 weeks and weighed 6.12. He's always been a bit on the small side, but everything else about him has been advanced. We avoided live vaccines for the first 6 months, but he was never sick until he started day car at 13 months. Poor baby!
I had an amazing pregnancy, and 6 months postpartum a scope showed no signs of disease activity. Pregnancy healed me, and so I'm doing it a second time!

Yep, imuran, remicade, humira are all considered safe during pregnancy/conception - certainly safer than having a flare during the pregnancy, which is known to have risks itself.

Many women have had successful pregnancies on one or a combo of those medications.

The one med that is totally contra-indicated for conception or pregnancy is methotrexate.

Thank you all for the insight. Its much appreciated. I think I am going to ask my GI to keep me off of the 6mp for now, and hopefully we will conceive before too long.

I am on Entyvio and my doc has given me the go ahead to get pregnant. She also said that Entyvio is safe for breastfeeding. Just throwing that out there if you're considering a different medication. Best of luck to you!

A little late to post, but my son is 2.5yo. I took Humira throughout my pregnancy. I was never 100% before getting pregnant, but was ok enough. I happened to find out I was pregnant right before a CT Scan and with a PICC in my arm!! Needless to say, he's a healthy, rambunctious, little boy smile. Thinking about going for round 2, but I'm on Stelara and not sure if that's ok!! Good luck!!
