Hey everyone! I have some serious questions and this page has helped a ton! I had a colonoscopy about a month ago some red patches but probably from prep and biopsies came back great! Which means colitis meds are working. Thing is Friday I had an endoscopy and my entire upper is inflammed, including my small intestines just pretty much everything. I have a non bleeding ulcer in my stomach, and my esophagus has white blood cells all in there. Anyone have experience with this? I also feel constant ache and extreme fatigue. This can't be related to colitis. The doctor is waiting on biopsies to see what's happening just hate waiting and seeing if ANYONE has insight on this. Thanks!

Do you have a UC or Crohn's diagnosis? Those two are often confused until it moves out of the large bowel. But what you're describing I don't *think* is all that abnormal for active disease for Crohn's.

I was diagnosed with colitis 2 years ago. But why is my colon great and now my upper is all funky lol

That is the nature of Crohn's. Plus, those meds are really only good for your large bowel and useless for anywhere else.

Do you know why there is white blood cells in my esophagus? What could that mean I wish they explain it better after endoscopy

What kind of colitis?

There is Crohn's colitis, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, infectious colitis, ischemic colitis, etc.

I'm not sure my first GI was horrible and he shouldn't be in practice. He told me right after my first colonoscopy it was proctitis colitis gave me prednisone and asacol hd and said not to worry about it. Well those meds worked and now here I am with 3rd gi and I honestly thought endoscopy was fine but total opposite. So now I'm kind of worried

Just want to add, people are misdiagosed all the time. Told they have Colitis, when it's actually Crohn's or vice/versa. I have a friend who's sons diagnosis was changed from Colitis to Crohn's after 8 years.

I've heard that too. When you guys were diagnosed what made the dr believe it was chrons and why is there wbc in esophagus? What does that mean.

Also why wouldn't he talk to me after the procedure? Wouldn't they be sure it was Crohn's when looking?

Not necessarily, especially if your original diagnosis wasn't Crohn's. A lot of times they need to wait for the results of biopsies. I was originally diagnosed with UC, but then when I got my first abscess that turned into a fistula, the diagnosis switched to Crohn's. It's all about the location. UC is just in the large bowel and doesn't go through to the outer lining. Crohn's can be in any area of your digestive tract. I've had strictures develop in my esophagus of all places. But wait and see what the biopsies say. Those symptoms could all be caused by things like Celiac. Of COURSE the prednisone worked, lol. I thought asacol was working great for me, too, but it was also because I was on 40 mg of prednisone for 10 months. Asacol can be great for UC, but it is pretty useless for Crohn's because it really only works well in the large intestine.

Here is an article that talks about wbc in the esophagus. It just basically means there's inflammation or some time of problem. It gives very little clue as to the cause. Hence the need to wait for biopsy results.

Thank you so much! I had a biopsy during my colonoscopy as he was able to reach the bottom of my small intestines took a biopsy and it came back negative for celiac

That's good! There are a lot of options out there and I think he just feels most comfortable waiting for results.

Weird part is I thought my bowels were pretty much back to normal so I was utterly shocked when they told me my whole upper was inflammed and I had a non bleeding ulcer I was like what! Lol
