Newbie here - Small bowel capsule endoscopy scheduled

Hi all! I'm new here. I have not received a definitive diagnosis of Crohn's yet but it has been suggested. I've had 2 CT scans in the ER after visits for extreme abdominal pain and vomiting, an MRI with contrast, a colonoscopy and endoscopy and all are negative. I now have a small bowel capsule endoscopy scheduled. I had no idea all of the other body issues that are associated with Crohn's. I thought I was just getting old. My joints are swollen and sore and itch like crazy too. I guess I'm a little nervous.

Which joints are swollen and/or sore? Have you seen a rheumatologist?

It's possible you have Crohn's. Crohn's can sometimes have inflammatory arthritis along with the bowel issues. But it's also possible you have a different rheumatologic disease - some inflammatory arthritis conditions can have secondary bowel inflammation and symptoms that are similar to Crohn's.

I was diagnosed by capsule endoscopy. The pill was really easy to swallow although the prep isn't that pleasant. Hopefully it will give you some answers but then you'll probably end up with more questions like I did!

I got food poisening. I was healthy and then I wasn't. Nothing showed up for months. The colonoscopy showed some inflammation, my blood markers were normal, I had 20 + BM a day with pain, nausea and vomiting. My head itched, my eyes hurt, I became intolerant to sunshine and heat, plus my knees, elbows hips and shoulders ached. Nothing showed up until over 6 months later when a fistula suddenly appeared. Ta ad....that is when my blood markers changed, my colonoscopy showed damage and the biopsies showed Crohns. I thought I was going crazy. I had all these issues and nothing was showing up. But I just knew something was not right so I kept going.

Hang in there. Some people get their diagnosis early on and for some it takes awhile.
