Wish I could understand what happens when pain hits

My Remicade infusion had to be postponed again this time for 5 days. It's a fiscal matter that will be resolved soon. Meanwhile, my GI put me on dexamethasone injections every other day. I mentioned previously that I'm flaring up.

I would be functioning normally and my concentration level will be very high and then all of a suuden pain hits. Everything changes drastically: I have a mind fog, if I'm standing, I bend and can't stand properly and all I need is to curl in bed, I feel that pain shakes me, and I need to stop whatever I'm doing. I pop Buscopan and all antispasmodics at reach to kill the pain.This hasn't been the case before taking Remicade.

I noticed after I have taken my October dose, I can't recall whether that was my 7th or 8th infusion that my LRQ pain disappeared and if I might say, this part of my intestines went into remission. However, taking the abx for the axillary HS triggered the current flare up. Pain hasn't been that worse in the last 10 years: throbbing pain that could waken me from sleep.

Wish I understood what happens and what to do. Hopefully, I'll take the infusion before the weekend and hopefully it can knock this pain off.

hey Minnie. I used to get woken up by my pain . I too could not stand straight or walk good.. it was excruciating. I had morphine to take under the tounge that would help some, but as soon as I could get someone to take me to the hospital I would go. it would come on very quickly like in 1-5 minutes and last for an hour, 4 hours or all day. the best relief I got was to take a couple morphine then when I got to urgent care or ER my dr would have them load up my butt checks with Demerol and Phenergan together. ( they compliment each other) and I would lay on my side and curl up and rock gently. or sit up on the bed and rock while pressing my fist under my ribs. at least it made for something to concentrate on. eventually the pain would stop as quickly as it started. lots of times it took multiple shots until it would subside. I would then go home and sleep the rest of the day.. if I was at work, my job was very understanding. my boss drove me to the hospital more than a few times. and my co workers took over my delivery's (I was a mail man). this happened way before remicade and way after also.

Hi Randy, thank you so much. Well, the pain was too excruciating for me to bear it up. Texted my GI who recommended I take dexamethasone injections on a daily basis and then after I take the Remicade infusion I have to taper them off.

Hope things will go back to their norm and Remicade would make the trick again and ease the inflammation in my TI.
