woke up with 2 seton drains

Had to go to emerg and was whisked into surgery 2 days ago. At home in a panic and scared. I haven't looked down there and won't touch. Just know they are blue and both come out of rectum and cheeks.

Drainage continues to be insane as it has been without setons for months. This is getting old.

The drainage is sticking to my pads and skin. When will the drainage stop being so heavy that I can switch to just liners? I've been wearing diapers to bed. Also what can I do to protect skin? I'm actually terrified this won't end.

I am so sorry you are going thru this. I havent had setons so I don't have any words of wisdom.

I do have a very low RVF that is so huge it doesn't even have that little diversion tunnel. It has gotten so bad my colorectal said I could see it if I looked. I won't look. When he fixes it I probably still won't look....unless I absolutely have to.... So I understand the not looking.

Was your colorectal surgeon able to perform the surgery or did you have to use someone else? Do setons come in different colors?

To protect my skin from my fistulas I use calmoseptine. They hide it behind the counter at Walmart and Walgreen. It is by far the best protectant I have found.
