I posted earlier about a chest infection that started almost 9 days ago. I tried to avoid taking ABX because of a recent unpleasant experience that threw me in the current flare up. I treated myself with an oral syrup and asthma inhalers. These didn't do the trick. So, I called my GI and he put me on a 5 day course of moxifloxacin. I took it several months ago and could tolerate it without any problems. However, I feel this time that some symptoms are lurking. Calf cramps began 2 days ago before I took the ABX but the pain and cramps in my calf haev increased since I took the ABX. It's written in the pamphlet of the medicine that if tendinitis is suspected, the medicine should be stopped and the doctor be contacted. I do have tendinitis (thanks to previous cipro) but it has been in quiescence for years. I think that moxifloxacin belongs to the same family of cipro.
The other thing is that finally after 2 weeks Remicade kicked in. However, today I began to have pain in my TI again. One of the precautions of the ABX is that it could cause pseudomembraneous colitis. I haven't had any d yet only tenesmus since my proctitis is acting up. I'm worried this time because last time, which was 2 months ago, I overlooked the d I got from the ABX then and that caused me the current flare up.
So, should I stop the ABX or just wait until it causes d? I reminded my GI of the side effects of ABX on my Crohn's but he said that as long as I have this infection, I have to take an ABX, especially that id did not cause me any problems in the past.
